About the Book
Carolyn Vargas has been writing music for years, bringing inspiration and encouragement to her listeners. Now Carolyn has written a companion book to her latest album release, Lord of the Seasons. Through the pages of this book, Carolyn takes us on a journey through the many seasons of life, sharing her own life experiences, as well as the inspiration and events that gave birth to the songs she has written for her newly released album. Carolyn writes with great candor, baring her soul, exposing her own vulnerabilities, and sharing from her heart the joys and the sorrows that brought her to this place in life. From the miracle of having a child, to the devastation of a broken marriage, Carolyn reminds us that Christ Jesus is our redeemer, and there is no situation and no circumstance that He cannot redeem. From the first breath of life until the very last, God is faithful and has a wonderful plan for each person as they journey through the seasons of life.
"A beautiful tapestry of heartfelt 'life moments' expressed in a way that makes you embrace your own seasons of life and allows you to decide that accepting the seasons brings the harvest of hope and trust again. Such a unique gift of writing and coupled with a CD that nourishes the soul to begin to be refreshed again and anchored deep into all the promises that God has for you in your life. "There is a time and a season for everything." - M.A. Hawaii
"I've known and loved Carolyn's music for years. This is her first book, a companion to her third CD by the same title "Lord of the Seasons. This book, however, can very well stand alone but being able to listen to the songs makes it even better. I love the short chapters that are straightforward and to the point. Carolyn bares her heart and shares some of her personal struggles through the seasons of her life. I could relate to it so well. The chapter entitled "Winter Winds" alone is worth buying the book. Who has not been through a winter season in their life? Maybe the very young....but let us head a few years down the road and there will be a winter season somewhere. Carolyn shares valuable and practical insights on how to survive a winter season. I also loved the chapter on the season of loss. The title is the same as her song "I will say farewell." This chapter made me cry as I thought about the dear ones to whom I had to say good-bye to. I lost many of them not in death but in the many military moves we had in our lives. If you can relate or mourn the passing of a friend Carolyn's words will be healing balm to your soul.
Carolyn is not only beautiful on the outside but has a beautiful spirit and soul as well. Her love and devotion to God who has brought her through many difficulties is inspiring. Her book is uplifting and encouraging even while probing gently into the deeper layers of our hearts. It made me reflect on the seasons of life I had been through and the Glory that awaits us all in the end as we faithfully follow the Lord. It really does help you to move forward through the seasons of life." - Cornelia
"Though each chapter was short, each topic was insightful and thought provoking. Carolyn Vargas has an easy style that is very inviting--like sitting down across from you over a cup of coffee. Enjoyed seeing the influence behind the lyrics and I also enjoy listening to the CD of the same title, Lord of the Seasons." - BettyJean Anderson
